At the end of 2006, I stayed in Mauritius for 4 months working on a private project. You could say that I was technically a self-employeed photographer, or you could say I was on a photographic holiday. Either way, I was taking a lot of photos (a few thousand per day at times). My motivation was high so the hours were grueling, the places visited were many and the humidity levels were sky high. It was a times very painful. By the end I was a broken man looking forward to the comforts of the Western world.
I headed back to Australia in December to spend Christmas with my friends and family. I hadn't been home in over two years.
Where: Mauritius and Sydney, Australia.
Regular Huants: Mauritian buses and a pool hall in Beau Bassin.
Memorable Moments: Three days inside the Medine sugar factory and one full night of Tamil celebration in Pointe aux Sables.
Interesting Stuff: During public rallies, Mauritian politicians scream hysterically like they were getting their balls electrocuted.
Personal Notes: Mauritius starts getting unbearably hot in November.
Firsts: First time attending both a cock fight and Muslim service in a mosque, but not at the same time.
