It's only been a little over a year and this Asus W1 laptop is already dying. I could easily get the grinding HD and dead DVD drive fixed. But what's the point? This PC has always had problems, not to mention a less than satisfactory display. I remember when I use to love this machine, that is, before I actually had to do some solid work on it. In the end, the whole graphic design on a laptop experience has been a bad one. Asus or otherwise, these so-called portable multimedia workstations are no replacement for the real thing. Hence, a desktop is the only solution. I should be piecing together my next PC in my head, instead I find myself having impure thoughts. Disturbingly, I am thinking Apple. After 17 years of loyal PC ownership, do I dare to finally step over that forbidden line? Do I dare to "Think Different"? > continue reading
