Après un séjour de 3 mois en Australie avec ma famille et des amis, je suis retourné de nouveau à mon île préférée. Je voulais arriver mi-février, mais j'ai finalement décidé de partir le 6 mars. C'était un bon choix vu qu'il y avait un cyclone de classe 3 qui a touché la côte de Maurice fin février. J'ai raté la plupart des dégâts initiaux - pannes de courant, linges électriques tombées, arbres abattus et maisons détruites (celles qui sont faiblement construites en tôle ondulée et/ou en bois), mais il y avait des effets intéressants à la suite du cyclone - l'anticyclone et une pénurie de légumes. > continue reading > english version

Conceptions of the home and heart are funny. I left London several months ago feeling like I was moving away from the place where I had belonged. After all I had spent the past 2 years of my life there with my newfound friends and distant family. However, I was leaving London to eventually come back to Sydney, Australia - the place that I had grown up in and the place that had made me into the vague and stubborn person that I am today. So in effect, I was leaving my temporary residence to go back to my one true home. But at that point it actually felt like I was leaving home to go to this other place in which I had simply spent 25 years of my life. And to complicate matters I was also stopping over in Mauritius for several months. A country which yields some very heavy sentiment for me - born there, lived there, vacationed there and my grandma's home cooking really turns on the nostalgia. > continue reading

Embarrassingly, I'm currently well into season 3 of this abomination of a science fiction series. Yes I know, Lost (as it is aptly named) absolutely bites - plot holes like Swiss cheese, painfully excessive melodrama, stupid characters, deception on tap and unashamed devices to reel you into the next episode. Like any other person of reasonable intelligence, I really should just stop watching this 'shite' and do something more constructive with my time. And this may happen in the not too distant future as the show spirals downwards into a haze of obscurity. But until then I think I'll just have a little rant. > continue reading
